Barong: The Tale of Kunti Sraya

October 18, 2015

If you’re free on the very auspicious 13 November (Friday), do come and support Barong: The Tale of Kunti Sraya, a production featuring the students from the Department of South East Asian Studies who have taken a module in Balinese Performing Arts and have spent time learning Balinese dances in Bali. Also featuring guest performers from Bali!

If you’re interested in a brief overview of the Barong mythology, Mr Wikipedia is happy to help.

You can also check out their facebook page [at this link] for more details and updates on ticketing.

South East Asian Night 2014

February 21, 2014

Join us for a night of music and dance of Southeast Asia. Presented by NUS Southeast Asian Studies and Gamelan Asmaradana, this performance will feature the meditative sounds of Central Javanese gamelan, the dynamic explosions of Gong Kebyar of Bali and the flirtatious ‘twerking’ of West Java.

The two ‘lions’, Singa Nglaras Gamelan Ensemble and Gamelan SingaMurti will be sharing the stage for the first time! They will be joined by guest performers from Indonesia, dance students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), as well as the faculty members who will be performing Filipino and Malay folk songs.

Time: Friday 14 March, 8pm
